The Course of Action for The Charcoal Experience

The Charcoal Experience offers live experiences and written information regarding outdoor life in Swedish natural surroundings, with specialisation in making charcoal. Our greatest negative impact on the environment is the generation of travel that our experiences entail. Travel has various negative impacts on the environment such as emission of carbon dioxide and other gases as well as infrastructure and noise disturbing our natural surroundings. By spreading the spoken and written word about our delicate life environment and by arranging practical experiences where information about the fascinating yet fragile relations in nature is a large part of the experience, we aim to raise the awareness about the importance of taking care of nature. Thus the total impact on the environment will be reduced.

Tiny, but not less important

The ambition in all The Charcoal Experience´s work is to spread a better understanding of and respect for nature. The goal of The Charcoal Experience is to encourage people to simply enjoy nature and to better connect to the miracle called life. Therefore we never pay much attention to what things and animals are called, either in English or Latin. We think that when we fish, we do not fish for the thrill of killing fish. We take only the fish that we Fresh charcoal ©Jens Larsenneed for food. When we make a fire we do not make it bigger than necessary. We create as little disturbance as possible to animals and plants as well as other people.

The Charcoal Experience will use the natural resources with care and strive to follow The Natural Step´s so-called Four System Conditions when carrying out different activities. Where it is technically possible and economically reasonable, we will perform preventative environmental work. This implies things like:

  • using techniques adapted to environmental requirements when possible,
  • giving information to all participants about how to behave in nature, the Right of Public Access, environmental issues and so on,
  • keeping our groups small so that our physical impact on nature will be kept low,
  • preferring electronic information rather than printed information,
  • keeping up a continuous dialogue, where we make environmental requirements on ourselves and on our business partners,
  • steadily increasing the competence of our employees and keeping their sense of participation high.

Fragile spider webs

We strive to continuously improve ourselves, and as for us, we view laws, regulations and other requirements from authorities as a minimum level of ambition.

People partaking in The Charcoal Experience’s activities should always be happy with the services they receive. We promote an active dialogue so that we can keep our standards high, and we work steadily on upgrading our information according to the latest findings.

The Charcoal Experience will work for the beneficial of local businesses, our cultural heritage and environmentally adapted production.
